If you buy and resell stones, your inventory is probably a spreadsheet, and your sale sheets a Word document retyped at every sale. Lapidem keeps the register for you: purchase, fees, resale, margin, and produces the documents under YOUR name, ready to hand to the client.
The gem library, the guides and the tools stay free for everyone, with no account. The subscription is only of use to those who hold stock.

And what about photo analysis
It is included, and it earns its place, recognising a parcel bought as a job lot, settling a doubt about a piece. But it is not what you are paying for: a photo identification never replaces a laboratory certificate, and we do not pretend it does.
Here is a complete report, exactly as you would receive it after uploading a photo. This one covers a rough Brazilian amethyst.
Rough stone · Silicate mineral
Amethyst
SiO₂, macrocrystalline quartz
high confidence
A purple quartz in prismatic crystals ending in pyramidal points, typical of Brazilian geodes. The colour lightens towards the base, which is characteristic of druse growth on a basalt wall.
Observed characteristics
Hexagonal prismatic crystals with pyramidal terminations
Deep purple at the tip, almost colourless at the base
Vitreous lustre, good to medium transparency
Grey basalt-like matrix on the reverse
No cleavage visible on broken faces
Alternative hypotheses
Purple fluorite: same hue, but clear octahedral cleavage and far lower hardness
Dyed glass: ruled out: the faces show natural growth, not moulding
Tests to confirm
Scratch a glass plate: quartz leaves a mark, fluorite does not
Check that a chip shows no cleavage
Look at the prism faces under a 10× loupe for growth striations
Disclaimer : Visual estimate from photographs, without physical examination. This report is not a gemmological certification.
Common questions
Is this for me?
If you hold stock, lapidary, fair dealer, small jeweller, a collector who buys and resells, yes. If you found a pebble and want to know what it is, the gem library and the free analysis are enough: don't subscribe.
Can my clients see my purchase prices?
Never. A share link and a sale sheet show no purchase price, no fees and no margin: the server simply does not send them. Showing a buyer what the stone cost you would destroy the negotiation, and that is the one leak nobody would forgive.
Can I bring my existing spreadsheet over?
Yes, from the Essential plan onwards: bulk import swallows a CSV file of up to 500 rows, and recognises column headings in English as well as French. A single malformed row cancels the whole import and tells you which one, better a refused import than a half-filled register.
Can I stop whenever I want?
Yes. Cancelling takes one click from “My account”, with no reason required and no fee. Your access stays open until the end of the month you have already paid for, and your entries stay exportable to a spreadsheet, even back on the free plan.
If I stop, do I lose everything?
No. Spreadsheet export is not reserved to any plan, not even the free one: this is your data, and holding it hostage would be dishonest. You leave with a file any spreadsheet opens.
Are my photos kept?
No. Photos are used for the analysis and then forgotten, they are not stored anywhere. Only the analysis report is kept in your history, and you can delete it whenever you like.
