Orange and gold, from the plexus to the gaze

Which stones for self-confidence?

The lists change temperature: oranges, golds and warm browns. Carnelian has been there since Egypt, which makes it one of the few associations with real historical depth.

Where the association comes from

Carnelian has been worn for more than four thousand years, in Egypt as in Mesopotamia, and Egyptian funerary texts attribute vigour and blood to it. That antiquity is real and verifiable: carnelian is found in tombs, cut into amulets. The rest of the list is more recent. The chakra system places a yellow centre at the solar plexus, tied to assertion, which explains citrine and sunstone. Tiger's eye owes much to its name and its gaze: a stone that seems to look back at you lends itself to the idea of holding someone's eye.

The stones tradition offers

What tradition suggests doing

This one is worn, unlike the sleep stones: as a ring, a bracelet, or in a pocket where the hand finds it before walking into a room. Several handbooks suggest touching it just before the difficult moment, as a signal. That is anchoring in the literal sense: a gesture tied to a state, repeated until the gesture recalls the state.

What a stone does not do

Confidence is built by experience and sometimes by guided work, not by an object. A stone in the pocket can be a marker before a frightening moment; if the fear is such that it makes you give up things that matter, that can be worked on, and it works well.

The correspondences presented here belong to tradition and cultural heritage. They are in no way medical advice and never replace a consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Is my citrine a real citrine?

Probably a heated amethyst, like almost all of them. Look for a whitish base and a reddish orange: natural citrine is a paler, more even yellow. It is not fraud if it is declared.

Should it be worn on the left or the right?

Tradition says receive on the left and give on the right. That is a symbolic convention, not an observation: wear it where it does not bother you.

How long should it be worn?

Handbooks talk of weeks. Nothing measures it. If the gesture helps, keep it; if it becomes a constraint or a worry, that is the sign to let it go.
